Bets are a particular kind of entry as they usually have a trigger, often a particular date, at which time one checks who is correct.
Assuming the methodology is properly defined so that there is no ambiguity in terms of defining who won (sometimes words shift in meaning to start), and a winner is defined, such entry anyhow then has an automatic need-to-be updated at.
Since the trigger (when it is possible to evaluate the winner of a bet) can be post-humous, then parts of someone's work can remain open. Furthermore, one's work could even have conditional switches based on winning or loosing such bet. It would be interesting to attach publication of a particular item upon resolution of a bet. A simple write-at method like that would permit some works to continue to evolve after an author has passed away yet under the control of that author.
This is a form of proceduralism yet it is not generative (or directly). The write-at (sending a conditional message in a bottle in the future based on some event happening or not) can contain directives. One such directive could be in a will context where one gives 50 acres to the regional parks on basis that no housing construction happens on the land. Imagine in the will enveloppe there is a letter and another enveloppe. On the letter it says "If there is more cows per capita in this area then humans then the land can be reappropriated by the county and rezone as best see fit."
